Last week the body of the 6-year-old boy was found near one of North Carolina’s parks. Authorities confirm that it is a body of Maddox Ritch.

It is said that the funeral will take place later this week. On Monday, representative of medical examiner’s office has confirmed that the body found earlier in Gastonia’s park, North Carolina, belongs to Maddox Ritch, the 6-year-old boy reported missing on September, 22.

Maddox was seen the last time on that day by his father playing at the Rankin Lake Park. Five days later his body was found.

Robert Helton, Police Chief of Gastonia, said to the press that police is very saddened with the finding. However, the body that was found by the group of searchers on Thursday belongs to Maddox.

He noted that hundreds of people came to help in searching for the child. Police are currently investigating the cause of Maddox death. Helton confirmed that they will not stop their work until they find out the reasons for this tragedy.

According to Maddox father, Ian Ritch, his son disappeared after running off from his father during their walk in the park. Maddox was nonverbal and autistic. His father could not catch him because due to the neuropathy in feet caused by diabetes he can’t run fast.

The body of Maddox was found in a mile to the east from this park, in a creek.

On Thursday Maddox family will hold a visitation for a boy, in Huntersville. Next morning there will be a funeral.
